An Ordinance to establish a Social and Welfare Services Lotteries Board and to authorise the promotion by such Board of public lotteries for social and welfare purposes and to provide for other matters incidental thereto.

IT IS HEREBY ENACTED by the High Commissioner of the Federation of Malaya and Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Malay States with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council as follows:
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Social and Welfare Services Lotteries Board Ordinance, 1950, and shall remain in force for a period of five years unless extended by a resolution of the Legislative Council.
2. In this Ordinance unless the context otherwise requires---
"Board" means the Social and Welfare Services Lotteries Board established under section 3 of this Ordinance;
"The Chairman" means the Chairman of the Board appointed under sub-section (1) of section 4 of this Ordinance and includes any member of the Board appointed by the High Commissioner to act in place of the Chairman during such time as the Chairman is by reason of absence from the country or illness or for any other reason unable to act;
"public lottery" means any game method or device whereby money or money's worth is distributed or allotted in any manner depending upon or to be determined by chance or lot and to which the public or any class of the public has or may have access.
3. For the purposes of this Ordinance there shall incorporation be established a Board which shall be a body corporate of the Social under the name of "The Social and Welfare Services Lotteries Board" and shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and may sue and be sued in its corporate name.

4. (1) The Board shall consist of eleven members appointed by the High Commissioner in Council, one of whom he shall appoint as Chairman.
(2) The High Commissioner in Council may dismiss or suspend any member of the Board and may appoint
